In what might be a first in a non-documentary movie, there's an amusing name check of Jerry Goldsmith in the new movie Tar, when Cate Blanchett's pretentious title character claims that he "ripped off" Edgar Varese for his Planet Of The Apes score!

I was just pleased to hear the maestro's name coming out of Cate Blanchett's mouth.

Writer-director Todd Field disses Goldsmith in his script...yet hires composer Hildur Guðnadottir -- whose Joker score is among the worst I've ever heard.

And Field actually had an acting role in the awful Haunting remake...scored by Goldsmith.
