Vangelis almost scored Scott's Last Duel

I happened upon this (presumably reliable) tidbit of trivia today:

According to Daniel Pemberton, Vangelis was going to score Ridley Scott's The Last Duel...

Talk about a major bummer -- at a time when inspired film music is at an all-time low (and most gifted composers are collecting unemployment).

I didn't care for the film, but Vangelis certainly would have livened-it up (and written something of standalone appeal too).

Still haven't wasted my time with that one -- would the score have helped? Scott's been on a roll -- of the wrong kind -- lately. :(

Perhaps even Vangelis couldn’t have helped that movie. The Last Duel doesn't provide the kind of "canvas" for a composer to work from (certainly compared to Blade Runner or 1492).

Still, I'd love to have heard what Vangelis would have come-up with.
