Tremendous news. 8) One of my favorite techno-heist movies, with an endearing cast, great humor and one of James Horner's best scores (even if he recycled the "ticking woodblock" suspense chords for the next twenty years). And the old BD is definitely in need of a fresh scan. I just hope they can include the DVD commentary track as well, which is a different one than the one that was included on the BD.

Never liked it. Sorry!

Wasn't crazy about Horner's score either. But I'll give it another watch when it rolls in.

I thought it was entertaining. Yeah, it's preachy in that "naive lefty" way, but I found it clever and likeable.

I thought Horner's score worked well in the film. Though amusingly, the cue for the scene where they realize that can hack into any sever on Earth was almost identical to the cue in Brainstorm where they hack into the company server!

I think for me, it was a letdown at the time of initial release because Phil Alden Robinson was coming off FIELD OF DREAMS - which has since become somewhat iconic for many of the elements that made that movie good. SNEAKERS just had sucn big names and good actors to be given such a perfunctory story to work with. I think Honer's score was effective in the movie - and I do like the theme.

But that fad of getting some trend of the moment (Branford Marselis who appeared on THE RUSSIA HOUSE) seemed to turn me off a little. You would see that kind of happen again with Lebo M on THE POWER OF ONE, LION KING, OUTBREAK, CONGO, to name a few.

Last time that happened was probably Lisa Gerrard in that immediate post-Gladiator/M:I-2 "moaning woman" period. :?

I only saw it once, but just found it very "soft" and silly. Little tension, and Redford trying to act all "casual" with his one-liners like he was Bill Murray or something. The other problem I had was the movie's heavy handed politics being very much of the time -- didn't it come out months/weeks before the '92 election? I vividly remember some guy a few rows down from us sitting there clapping hysterically and roaring with laughter when the news bulletin announced at the end that all the GOP money was redirected to the United Negro College Fund or whatever it was. The entire movie was basically a Bill Clinton campaign commercial.
