Based on info in the description, the actor playing opposite Beatrice Straight wanted to see his scene, which Spielberg edited and sent to him.

Interesting, but I can see why it was left out. It's a bit too much of a tangent.

Also, Dr. Lesh says "there is nothing on the tape" yet in the earlier staircase scene, the playback on the video monitors clearly display spirits.

There must have been SOMEthing really off about the production to have so little making-of material or deleted scenes available after all this time.

My guess is it's an edict from Spielberg that he doesn't want to go near this movie or have anything remotely controversial related to it released. Thus, we never got a customary Laurent Bouzereau documentary nor deleted scenes or anything substantive.

Really a shame, Hooper's been gone since 2017, they could easily do a Making Of and still skirt around the director issue if they had to.
