Weekend Box-Office: Bay's ISLAND Sinks!

If these are accurate then it means really bad news for THE ISLAND and the BAD NEWS BEARS remake. Looks like Bay's streak of $100 mil epics will be coming to a very quick end (it also means Ewan Macgregor and Scarlett Johannson aren't enough to open a movie, either). FRIDAY Estimates, Showbizdata.co...

Honestly, Pearl Harbor better than A.I.? At least Spielberg's film, despite some flaws, had some ambition and gorgeous visuals and fine performances, while Bay's film reduced one of the most pivotal moments in 20th century American history to the level of an Archie comic book. Shameful. Mad To me P...

Pearl Harbor was the single worst movie of 2001, Oh come now -- there were plenty of movies that were far worse that were also released in 2001. Maybe not as many overhyped and overanalyzed blockbusters such as Bay and Bruckheimer's film, I'll grant you that, but nevertheless, I'd rather sit throug...

Tell me about it. Crying or Very sad Dark City was the last time that Connelly still had her spectacularly voluptuous figure and appealingly rounded facial features. Now she looks like she should be auditioning for a role in the next George Romero zombie movie. Exactly. We've tossed this around bef...

Mark, I heard years ago that he recorded a commentary for THE CROW DVD but Dimension/Miramax opted not to include it, presumably because he said some critical things about the studio and/or what happened in regards to Brandon Lee's death. I'm surprised Proyas gave an I ROBOT commentary at all but I ...

WEDDING CRASHERS: Thumbs Up For The Movie AND The Score

Enjoyed a matinee of WEDDING CRASHERS today -- a lot of fun, very well made, nicely shot by Julio Macat in scope, and memorably scored by Rolfe Kent. Here's one of the rare comedies you'll see where the music is able to create a tone and atmosphere and not just underscore the "hyjinks" ele...

but doesnt get THE ISLAND great reviews?
Actually Roman the mainstream reviews that came out today were mostly mixed to negative. Ditto on the BAD NEWS BEARS remake, which got slammed from a lot of folks (with a few positives mixed in as well).

Bay has never made a movie even a fourth as good as Moore's Flight Of The Phoenix. Well Jack, I respect your opinion, but I have to part company with you here. I'm not a big Bay fan whatsoever but a couple of his movies are far better than Ed Wood quality. PEARL HARBOR -- in spite of its flaws (and...

The big question is, how do you top Jerry's unforgettable score?
I'd say the chances of an "unforgettable score" being written for this OMEN are about as high as Jerry himself coming back to score it! :(

It could be worse. Tim Storey or Michael Bay could be directing. I'd take Michael Bay in a second over this guy. at least we can look forward for a great score! So this will be a Beltrami special then? Oh great...so from Goldsmith to Beltrami....it's like having your filet mignon replaced by a froz...

THE OMEN 666: What Happens When You Have a Date First...

...and a movie second? Fox's THE OMEN 666 is now in production for release on (when else?) 6/6/2006. According to USA Today, "casting is underway" and filming will begin shortly in Budapest. Want some more good news? John Moore (BEHIND ENEMY LINES, one of the most sickeningly-directed, sch...

I'm trying to go through the two versions in 30 minute segments (they didn't send me the theatrical cut, so I'm going through my Korean 3-DVD set). Among the early alterations: -Hopkins' first scene is basically cut in half (sort of making for an awkward transition to his appearance), and the initia...

come on, isn't it nice, that somebody from Hollywood actually reads this here... ? I once did an interview with the composer of the children's movie ALASKA for FSM, whcih was directed by Fraser C. Heston. He actually read it and wrote me a nice letter! So, basically now I know Charlton Heston, from...
