Sorry to bump a really old thread, but I had an opportunity to talk to Mr. Weir about this last night. He wasn't aware the lines were missing. Maybe at some point we'll get a correct edition.

The song works really well with the rest of the score.

I'm really looking forward to this movie.

I think that's the issue that bothers me the most about The Donner Cut . Not the fact that it's so inept (which it is) but the utter crassness of the marketing campaign. Selling it separately here in R1 is really gutsy. In R2 it is disc 3 of the Superman II set, which makes sense, and makes it an ea...

While you may not like Lester's humorous additions and style, there is no denying that the film released in 1980/1981 was a competently completed film. After I saw The Donner Cut , I thought that Lester and the producers must have had a reaction similar to mine watching the footage that is presented...

So far no great shakes... Wait until you get to the re-powering scene. ;) (you'll get that when you see it) Neil OK that scene was great -- easily the best addition to this cut. I was actually just talking about the shaking. :) I agree with everything in your review though I didn't even think the r...

Did you get any of the other discs? I just read at Superman Cinema that someone got the set in R3 and the original cut of Superman - The Movie does not have the original 1978 mix. If that is the case, that's a deal breaker for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were 4x3. Jim Ward said in USA Today , "It is state of the art, as of 1993, and that's not as good as state of the art 2006...". 1993 is when the THX transfers were first released (they were reissued in 1995). They had new Dolby Stereo mixes in 1993 which wo...

Andy, the original films were never released on LD with a Dolby Digital track. Only the SEs were. I would love to have the the original 6 track mix re-purposed to 5.1, the original Dolby Stereo mix and the mono mix on DVD, along with the original crawl. Give me that with a new 16x9 transfer and I'd ...

That dialogue should be in the film twice. Once when he's having the conversation with Paul and again after the shoot out.

Witness Question

Andy, you've reviewed the new Witness DVD. Did Paramount fix the soundtrack? The previous release was missing a section of dialogue. After Harrison Ford gets shot and the blood is hitting the plastic bag of his dry cleaning, there should be a voice over of Schaeffer asking "Who else knows about...
