Re: FERNGULLY Gets Its Live-Action Remake!
I was 13 at the time this came out...a huge animation/Disney fan. I had seen the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, even mediocre stuff like the Ducktales movie in theaters....and even back then I knew Ferngully was dumb. It's no classic.

I think he looks like Henry Silva from the 80's adventure film Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold!

Re: Seriously? VHS is making a comeback?
I don't have any lost nostalgia for VHS but I always say standard-def looks better on its own equipment. I mean, it's hard for someone today to see how good laserdisc looked at the time, unless you have an old set and a player appropriately hooked up to it. It certainly isn't HD, but it looks ...

Re: Bruce Campbell "treatable" but "incurable" cancer
Sad news :-(
I got to meet him in college, when he came to speak before an RIT film club showing of Army of Darkness. He has some great stories, and although he has every right to be bummed his career probably didn't go how he'd hoped, he came across as a really great guy.
Loved him on Xena ...

Maybe they know it can't be any worse, and it would be cheap to make...a couple of fog machines, and you're halfway there!AndyDursin wrote: Sun Feb 15, 2026 5:10 pm I just find it odd The Mist is one of these properties they are so desperate to rehash...why?!?!

Re: rate the last movie you saw
Harrison Ford double feature : watched 2 movies I hadn't seen in forever yesterday (while I spend the day sorting 20 lbs of legos)
Blade Runner . (5/10) This is one of the most overrated movies. I thought not seeing it in 20 years might change my opinion, but I still found it boring, I watched ...

Re: DIE HARD 2: The Perfect Snow Storm View
I always liked 2 the most as well...1 is awesome, 3 is disjointed with a lame ending, but still fun.
Andy: I haven't watched any of these with my 8th grader yet. I suppose he's ready for them. I haven't watched them in years...just a lot of swearing and some violence that is probably tame by today ...

Re: SUPERMAN Thread - SUPERGIRL Trailer Release
Got HBOnow on a black friday deal, so I watched Superman 3 for the first time in forever this morning.....it alternates from being pretty good to pretty bad so often you could get whiplash!
the bad:
the score. The orchestra sounds weak, and the only time you notice the music is when it rehashes ...

Re: CONGO - The 30th Anniversary Revisit
Yeah, it's a solid 6/10 movie. I enjoy Tim Curry hamming it up. I'll watch it whenever it's on tv...and I really do enjoy the Goldsmith score. (all his Africa/jungle movies are a good listen: Ghost and the Darkness, Congo, King Solomon's Mines, Medicine Man, etc).

Re: Orchestras Performing Live Soundtracks
Not a live to picture concert, but last night the National Symphony Orchestra did a "Classic Film Scores" concert at the Kennedy Center. It was one of the best film music concerts I've never been to. (and I've seen John Williams many times)

Re: Orchestras Performing Live Soundtracks
I took the family to see the North American premiere of the LTP concert of Wallace & Grommit: The Wrong Trousers. It was great fun, although due to it being performed by the Northern VA Brass Band, there were no strings. So the music was adapted a bit, but still sounded pretty close to the real ...

Re: SUPERMAN - July - Trailer Incoming
I guess Williams classic theme has too many notes for people nowadays. Ottman removed some from the love theme, now this one does the same thing to another Superman theme!
