Re: CONGO - The 30th Anniversary Revisit

Yeah, it's a solid 6/10 movie. I enjoy Tim Curry hamming it up. I'll watch it whenever it's on tv...and I really do enjoy the Goldsmith score. (all his Africa/jungle movies are a good listen: Ghost and the Darkness, Congo, King Solomon's Mines, Medicine Man, etc). What I think of most when I think a...

Re: Orchestras Performing Live Soundtracks

Not a live to picture concert, but last night the National Symphony Orchestra did a "Classic Film Scores" concert at the Kennedy Center. It was one of the best film music concerts I've never been to. (and I've seen John Williams many times) They played scores from the 1930s to the 1980s, s...

Re: Orchestras Performing Live Soundtracks

I took the family to see the North American premiere of the LTP concert of Wallace & Grommit: The Wrong Trousers. It was great fun, although due to it being performed by the Northern VA Brass Band, there were no strings. So the music was adapted a bit, but still sounded pretty close to the real ...

Re: SUPERMAN - July - Trailer Incoming

I guess Williams classic theme has too many notes for people nowadays. Ottman removed some from the love theme, now this one does the same thing to another Superman theme!

Unbreakable 8/10 It's been at least 15 years since I'd seen Unbreakable, and it was much better than I remembered. Things that stuck out to me were the abundance of long shots- refreshing to see in these hyper edited modern days. The fantastic framing of shots too! The camera slowly going up and do...

Re: Weekend Box Office 5/5 - FALL GUY Falls From Expectations

Me and my wife want to see this, because it looks fun, but the title sucks...I don't think people associate "Fall Guy" with "Stunt Man". And these days, isn't everything CGI? Also, I downloaded the score...interpolates a song from Kiss (I was made for loving you) ina few tracks t...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Batman (1989) Live in Concert The Warner Theater in DC had a one night only showing of Tim Burton's Batman with Danny Elfman's score performed live to picture. It was fun time, and the crowd was very excited to see the film. I walked in behind someone in full Batman costume, which had to have been u...

Re: Rate The Last TV Show Episode You Watched

Haven't watched the finale yet, but I feel the same way about Reacher season 2. Too many bland fight scenes, people making terrible choices (why did the good cop just walk up to the guys shooting at him. He had cover behind the car?) . Also, did they film all of Robert Patrick scenes in one afternoo...

I lasted half an hour before turning it off. The same old cliched characters and formulaic CGI effects.
It was okay, but I don't remember a thing about it, other than Hugh Grant seemed to be having fun.

Re: GODZILLA MINUS ONE - Andy's Review

My 6th grade son and I went and saw Godzilla Minus One last night. I'm not a huge Godzilla fan...mostly enjoy watching the old cheesy 60's ones. I always zoned out during the human stuff. I warned my son that this was not like that, and was subtitled, and was more of a 'serious' Godzilla movie. I th...

Re: Halloween Horror Marathon 2023

I agree Andy, Haunted Mansion sucked. I actually preferred the Eddie Murphy one by a large margin. That one looked like some money was spent, this one just looked cheap. My son said he liked it, but to me it needed to either be a LOT funnier or a LOT scarier. And I noticed the same thing about how c...

Re: Weekend Box Office 10/29 - Some Video Game Horror Movie For Kids Breaks Halloween Records

I'm not surprised....Five Nights At Freddys has been HUGE with kids for years now. It's flown under the radar for a lot of adults. But young kids who played it when it first came out are now teenagers/young adults, and they have been looking forward to this all year. Tons of my 7 and 8th grade stude...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Going to stick this here (I don't think there is a concert thread) I got to see Giacchino's Marvel short film " Werewolf by Night" performed at the Kennedy Center with the NSO last night. It was a really fun concert, a Halloween/Spooky movie themed one. He was there, along with Marvel head...
