Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray Blue Thunder: The Complete Series (1984), starring James Farentino, Dana Carvey, Sandy McPeak, Dick Butkus, and Bubba Smith. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on May 5.

Description: Blue Thunder is an 11-episode ABC action series following a maverick LAPD helicopter pilot, Frank Cheney (James Farentino), and his crew using an advanced, high-tech helicopter to fight crime in Los Angeles. It serves as a lighter-toned, weekly follow-up to the 1983 film, featuring similar aerial action and a ground-support van known as "Rolling Thunder".

No, this one is a shocker...one of the weird situations also where the show's knockoff on a rival network, AIRWOLF, ended up being much more popular and endured for a bunch of seasons whereas BLUE THUNDER itself was quickly one and done.

Dana Carvey though! Should be fun revisiting this.
