Those are outtakes are also on the DVD as well, are they not? Other than, what, a photo gallery if memory serves, the Collector's Edition DVD is the same as the Collector's Edition LD.

The "out of print" Collectors Edition from Columbia I was referring to was the DVD, and yes, it was out for a time on LD. The one-disc DVD version (minus the supplements) is the one that's currently available.

And yes, the 2-DVD version has a photo gallery, and is similar to what Criterion had for its CAV LD.

Right, but the 2-disc is still very much in print...

I still have a tape of that old TV version...I remember taping it myself but had to let my dad take over when it got to 10pm (hey I was in 2nd grade at the time!).

Thanks, Andy. I stand corrected. It is the LaserDisc edition that obviously is now out-of-print, rest in pieces LD.

Hiphats getting new DVDs isn't quite the same as the rush you'd get from buying an LD, is it? Granted they were a lot more money, but it made buying one almost like a "special occasion" since you really had to like a movie to buy one back then. :)

I agree with you there. Of course, when "Legend" finally came out in 2002, and all those other movies that got the special treatment...I'll let you fill in the blanks, my friend. But I believe you answered your own question!!! Ha!
