So the "new" MGM is mostly comprised of the United Artists catalog (007, Pink Panther, etc.)
And now the "new" UA -- whereever they end up -- will basically be the *MGM* library nobody wants (REAL MEN? I'm curious as to what the "select" library of 100 titles will be comprised of).

I would of thought with the libary being partly in Warners & some kept by MGM & some being reverted back to the orginal companies for renegotiation & of course the more profitable being stuck with MGM/Sony I really can't see the 100 movies being anything ground breaking.
Maybe some of their Italian westerns, which have always been badly handled particulary in the USA & UK markets. But what is really left, Sony appear to pushing as many titles out on the budget ranges & still no sign of the 2 disc editions that have been in Europe for many months.
maybe it's an image thing thats worth the money & the time to buy up a studio with a legacy all beit a sold off & destroyed legacy?
I know that at 1 time in the UK they had used the name to launch a TVcable company, no idea if it was linked to the actual UA but it caught peoples attention & seemed to be a marketable image.
Who knows I always thought it sad when Heavens gate destroyed the studio & the way MGM held onto it if nothing else for the 007 Series.
may be it will rise from the ashes & become something again.
having done some work for them via UIP I would like to think so.
