Now, just so you know, the original APES is a single-disc here -- so you will want to keep the 35th Anniversary set (was that the one they packaged as the 36th Anniversary?) with the supplements, 'cause this is just a one-disc deal with commentary and only the Ape-Head has the second disc.
Otherwise, it's the same package as before with two exceptions -- everything (the sequels) being 16:9 and BATTLE being in the longer cut...I found it curious there's very little other than a tiny sentence on the bottom of the Legacy box even mentioning that BATTLE is the Extended Version (the BATTLE box itself says absolutely nothing about being longer!), but otherwise the transfers and soundtracks seemed quite good at first glance.
The BEHIND THE PLANET OF THE APES disc is the EXACT same, single-disc Fox DVD that they included in the 2000 Legacy Set (it's even copyrighted 2000 so they must have had some stock left over). Again, you will want to keep the superior 2-disc IMAGE set with that excellent Roddy McDowall interview.
Otherwise, from what I gather there's nothing other than the packaging that's unique about the Ape-Head set...as long as you can get the animated series on its own (and they didn't send out review copies so who knows what it looks like), why bother shelling out the $130+ clams when you can pretty much buy everything in that set for less one way or another.
I just wonder what they'll do for the HD/Blu Ray set
