I had no burning desire to see this film to begin with (a costume piece tracked with 80s tunes just doesn't grab me for some odd reason). But it looks as tho the film may well be even worse than the trailer suggests...

Everything gets booed at Cannes - it's a tradition. I know people who were at the public screening, and - like Southland Tales - it was a pretty even mix of applause and boos, which is par for an average in competition film there. Most regular journos are used to that, but because expectations were high for both of them an indifferent reaction got reported as an overwhelming failure.
