I honestly do think Hans Zimmer is a talented man. I love (and have been waiting 25 years for the release of) this fabulous score he wrote for a BBC TV movie called First Born. But I don't like a lot of the stylistic choices he has made in his career -- especially this streamlined, melodically vague schtick he's been into for years. It also bugs me that so many of his scores are co-written by others. Yeah, everyone (even Jerry Goldsmith) has used ghostwriters, but with people like Williams, Goldsmith, etc. ghosting has been the exception. With Zimmer it's the rule.
And this "sweat shop" of composers who write in his style has also resulted in the "Zimmer sound" saturating just about every movie. I'm so sick of it.
