#1 Post by AndyDursin »

First TOP GUN 2 and now back to back MI sequels on tap for Tom. Has to make them before he's AARP eligible (or is he there already??)

Hope they don't pull that "one big story cut in half" crap (the Matrix sequels, Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 & 3, any YA franchise). :x

Cant imagine they wouldnt be connected somehow if not substantially. Has anyone made one of these back to back sequels that wasnt?

Edit -- The only ones that really felt like two very distinct and different films were BACK TO THE FUTURE II and III

I'd also go with both volumes of Kill Bill, but that was a project that got split into two movies very late in the game.

I just hope they bring back Joe Kramer for the music- his MI score was the best action score I've heard in years...blew the crappy score for the latest one out of the water.

Yep. Shame to see a franchise with such a good track record for music (Zimmer's M:I-2 excepted) get Balfe'd. :(

They're not exactly John Barry quality, any of them, but Kramer's score was pretty good by modern standards. Balfe's lousy score was white noise, like most of what we get today. I doubt they'd bring Kramer back -- just sounds like there was some reason, whatever it was, for "moving on" from him. Weird to have the same director and change composers just because they "wanted something different". Sounds like a creative divorce, for whatever reason.

Going to be a really rough year for theater owners, no way around it.

The fact that studios keep running like pussies after each new "surge" -- despite Spider-Man: No Way Home closing in on two BILLION worldwide and already one of the top-ten U.S. grossers of all time -- is maddening. No M:I this year, no John Wick, no Turning Red, and they'll probably push back Top Gun 2 again just for sh!ts and giggles. :x Hell, 5cream just grossed $35 million last weekend. You telling me that a new M:I movie or John Wick 4 wouldn't mop up MONTHS from now?!

Seriously, PHUCK. YOU.

I always love that "dick level" camera shot of Cruise running away from something in every other movie.
Indeed,
