Never was on a debate team, but I did write an op/ed column for my college newspaper which is where I think I really learned my ability to do this kind of thing in written forums. It'd be a lot tougher, and I'll even admit, would probably be a lot more civil all way around if this sort of thing were being done in a face-to-face setting.

Dana Wilcox offers a bigger laugh than Greg Bryant did yesterday with his broadside about "rational discussions" after the posts he made earlier in that same thread. If you ever wondered how hiliariously implausible it would be if W.C. Fields were the Prohibition candidate for President, the same effect is generated by these guys!

A little disagreement can be healthy. . .logged in again!!!

:D Eric, you and I have had some major disagreements in the past, but I would defend to the death your right to say them, as I know you would for me. I would rather have you at my back fighting the Cylons than some people who agree with me all the time-you don't suffer fools easily, thank God! While disagreeing can be healthy, when it slides into insults, mudslinging and just plain nastiness, then even preaching to the choir becomes meaningless when the choir starts reading the paper instead of listening to you.

By the way Eric, thanks for the nice reply to my MAD, MAD WORLD post. I appreciate it.

Healthy open discussion, even with vigor, is one of the best things in this world we can cherish.

Thanks! :)

And in an amusing postscript, the thread in question was deleted, I suspect at the instigation of those who love to dish it out, but are of mighty thin skin when it comes to having to take it! :)

Mr. LRob is clearly taking illicit drugs of some kind given how the mere mention of a certain show's ratings (which whether you like the show or not is accurate information) will send him off into a raving foul-mouthed frenzy.
