Can anyone help me?
I wanted to watch John Huston's Moby Dick on Amazon Prime -- but there are two options: one which is free for those who have Prime, and another which costs $3.99 to rent.
I started watching the Prime version, but the transfer -- while acceptable -- was not the best. Does anyone know of the rental version is a better transfer?

Don't spend any extra money!
I only see one version popping up, which is the Prime one. I just checked it -- that's the current MGM master and there's no better version. Nobody has done a real restoration/remaster of it for whatever reason, likely the elements are gone. So that grainy and rough looking print is all there is.
There are a bunch of Blu-Rays, the sole difference between the transfers is the color...the Twilight Time disc tried to tweak the colors to match the quasi-sepia tone from the old theatrical prints, but it drained most of the warmth. This transfer looks like the standard HD master with the color timing unadjusted. The German media book I have has this color and I think it's a hair better than the TT disc.
