The Man from UNCLE TV Series - Blu-ray Plans?

#1 Post by John Johnson »

I thought I'd ask Andy, as he seems to know what's what in the release world.

Are there any plans for the tv series to be released on Blu-ray?
It seems to be one of the bigger shows, which hasn't been given the Blu-ray treatment.

Is MGM/Amazon even interested?

Warner controls it, not MGM. All of the "vintage" MGM programming (pre-1986) passed to Warner's control because they inherited the Turner library which had bought the vintage MGM library (but had continued to let MGM Video do the distributing until Warner took over Turner).

As Eric wrote its Warner and I would doubt it. Vintage TV in HD does not seem to be any kind of priority there, not even amongst the Warner Archive.

If the (underrated) 2015 movie had been successful enough to inspire a franchise, the show might've gotten a release. Look at Mission: Impossible.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like it's the DVD set then. I'll take a look and see which region appeals to me.

Warner released it in a box set here thats pretty inexpensive and widely available, $60ish. No reason to bother paying more for another region.
