SUPERMAN - July - Cuts, Reshoots, New Composer, Lame Test Screening
I will miss the Cavill/Amy Adams duo, but she's a major upgrade on Kate Bosworth for sure. Can't say much about him, but the Brandon Routh bar is a low one to clear.

Maybe it will be juiced up with CGI but that suit design blows.

Re: SUPERMAN: LEGACY Casts Leads
Trailer is up tomorrow -- in the meantime, Gunn is 100% on the mark with this. Finally someone who GETS IT as we don't need to sit around for 2 hours through another lame ORIGIN MOVIE with characters we already know!

The film starts with Superman already established in his world, with existing relationships with both Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. “We just start in the middle of the action,” Gunn said. “Superman’s already existing. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, although they don’t know each other personally.”
Gunn’s vision for the film draws from various influences while maintaining its own identity. “All previous DC media influenced me,” Gunn said. “I think that obviously the original Donner movie influenced me, but there’s also a lot of things that this isn’t, like I’m not just making a Donner type movie. It’s very different from that.” Gunn specifically cited “All-Star Superman” as a major comic book influence, noting its Silver Age feel and science fiction approach.
For the action sequences, particularly the aerial scenes, Gunn and his team are taking inspiration from “Top Gun: Maverick.” They’re using drones to capture Superman’s flight scenes. “We shoot a lot of our action with actual drones flying in and around Superman and the people that he’s flying with, Engineer, whoever else, that he’s fighting up in the air.” Gunn said. “We got these really small, crazy drones now. We’ve got some of the best flyers in the world here who are working with it.”

Now, if Gunn could just release a movie closer to two hours than 150 minutes...

Hopefully it's more Guardians 1 and 2 than 3 and the Suicide Squad which wasn't even as good as the original he didn't make. He's really hot and cold for me as a director but he is someone who can reach into the comics without an agenda like Singer and Superman is primed for that kind of treatment. And obviously should have far more fun factor than Snyder's take which won't be hard to do either.

Who is writing the ambient sound design that's trying to pass itself off as a music score?

Hey the dog looks good! And honestly, I appreciate this is going to be a movie I can take Theo to.
Pretty much beat for beat exactly what was promised -- big colorful comic book entertainment in a way the Snyder movie wasn't, and the Singer movie failed to be (nobody wanted single-dad mopey stalker Supes with a kid and miscast Kate Bosworth). Still looks a lot being packed in between giant creatures, multiple villains, Hawkgirl (?), and whatever.
Musically this is how they're apparently going to be using Williams music in the score -- but at least he's using it to a certain extent, which is more than can be said for Snyder (and I don't want to talk about John Ottman's lousy arrangement for RETURNS either lol).

https://www.gamesradar.com/entertainmen ... s-a-child/"I mean, the John Williams scores… it's one of the greatest scores of all time. And you know, it's the thing I loved when I saw the movie as a child," said Gunn at a press conference for the launch of the Superman trailer attended by GamesRadar+. "If that was the thing I liked the most, was the score, I wanted to pay tribute to that."
The legendary composer was behind the original score for the 1978 film Superman, but the song has fallen out of favor with Superman movies in recent years. In 2013, Zack Snyder opted for a Hans Zimmer theme for his Man of Steel flick, as well as its following sequels.
However, the score is back with composer John Murphy putting his own spin on it. Gunn recalled his first meetings with Murphy over the movie's score: "When I first talked to John Murphy, who's our composer, you know, I was like, 'Listen, I want you to do something completely out there.'" The DC boss added that the movie is "all about this score" and that the two started working on the score long before the screenplay was even finished.
"I wanted at least part of the Williams theme in there as part of something… John Murphy, just took to the challenge 100% and made something really beautiful. And when you hear the whole score and you hear what I mean," said Gunn. "It's a mix of the new and traditional in a way that we haven't quite seen. But also, I think it's soul food, you know."

Re: SUPERMAN - July - Trailer Incoming
This is the first superhero trailer in a long while to really excite me.
Krypto looks cute, there's COLOR, and it seems like it'll have a joyful, ebullient tone that was totally missing from the Singer and Snyder films. Cautiously optimistic.
