I'd be surprised by that though. His talk of retirement and age combined with seeming disinterest in genre/comic book cinema would make that a weird call. At least with something as poor as Gladiator II his involvement was because of his prior relationship with Scott.
This announcement of the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday is FIVE-AND-A-HALF-HOURS LONG...and consists of nothing but a slow pan over director's chairs with the actors' names printed on them.
They're just stuffing this with every recycled surviving element from the Fox movies and bringing Downey in the hopes they're going to reap Endgame profits.

What would be believable is that any of the *original cast* who shows up and is no longer under contract is probably taking home $20 mil. That I can buy.

It could be Spider-Man 2 or Superman: The Movie by this point, and it wouldn't matter...the genre is in a state of terminal exhaustion, and mainstream moviegoers simply do not care about superhero movies anymore. They had their day, the way westerns had their day, and it's time that studios simply let them die out and move onto something else rather than spend BILLIONS trying to get a jaded audience to pay money to see reskinned versions of characters we've already seen two or three times over since the early 2000s.
