I told you! Well, so who should score it then? Im pretty sure Christopher Young will get the gig. I mean he has a relationship with Raimi already and rescored some major parts of SPIDEY 2... and besides, Young deserves a big superhero movie and a big hit!!!
But with my luck, Debeny probably will get it... lol...
No surprise Roman, thanks for the link. After what happened on SPIDER-MAN 2 why would he WANT to go back?
I've written this before, but hiring Elfman to do SPIDER-MAN is pretty much the only ill-advised choice that was made in regards to the original two movies. Elfman has done too many comic book films and his hiring was a completely uninspired choice -- resulting in OK scores that just didn't have the "joy" and memorable themes that the movies should have had.
I also think the "Brooding Hero" deal should come to an end. As much as I thought SPIDEY 1 & 2 were great, the movies are a LOT more serious than the comic books (or any previous TV adaptation) in terms of tone and should "lighten up."
As far as the score goes...Christopher Young wouldn't ever, in a million years, be my first choice to score a superhero movie, but in this day and age, who else do we have? It's pretty pathetic.
pretty funny the video interview at that link I put above...
Q: Who's doing Spiderman 3 then?
Elfman: "I COULDT CARE LESS!"
now there somebody had a bad time with Spiderman 2, hu?
Sure, Young wouldn't be the first who came to my mind for a superhero movie, but maybe that would exactly be it. You know, his first chance to do something like this, don't you think he would come up with something inspired? Or do you really want to hear Debney doing an Elfman knock off or Revell doing it???
The action music he wrote for S2 was great already and obviously Raimi liked his HELLBOUND so much, so I guess it's safe to say, that Young is on top of the list now for the project...
right now, I don't know whom else should be doing it...
I'd try David Arnold -- the guy can write a theme, plus he's proven he can work a rock sound with orchestra and that's what SPIDER-MAN pretty much calls for (I'm used to the popish beats of the '70s TV show, plus the cartoons of the '80s and '90s. To me Spider-Man is more like that -- Superman makes more sense with an all-orchestral approach).
But otherwise, Roman, I'm in agreement with you: Young makes a lot of sense for his work on "Spider-Man 2." Didn't he also score THE GIFT, which was another Sam Raimi-directed film? If that's true then I'd be surprised if it were anyone else.

I agree with you, Andy. But when was the last time you heard any comic book movie with a memorable theme?
I don't have a problem with Christopher Young. I think he deserves a chance at something big like this.
the music in the movie was completely recut... as they recut the movie after the recordings... John wrote aorund 95 minutes, only 60 ended up in the movie and almost none of it the way he wrote it...
Too bad the movie is getting "buried" with many reviews.
I wouldn't feel too bad, Eric -- it only grossed $56 million last weekend and will probably pass $100 million this weekend......proof that reviews, in this case anyway, don't mean jack
