LETHAL WEAPON - Deluxe Edition?

#1 Post by MikeSkerritt »

Recently the subject of LETHAL WEAPON came up in conversation (I won't bore you with the details other than to say that everyone agreed it was a modern classic and is severely underrated because of the generic "buddy cop film" aspects of the sequels), and it got me wondering, is there possibly a deluxe edition of these movies on the horizon? Not the director's cut crap they put out a few years ago, but real 2-disc special editions with all the trimmings? Andy, do you have any contacts at Warner?

Not sure what's left really. I own the nice Director's Cuts of 1-3 and I think they're about as good as you're going to get. Even DTS! :)

Now, on the other hand, part 4 has never seen anything past its barebones, first-gen DVD release. Part 4 should at least get boosted to the same level, across the boards, as the first three Director's Cuts DVDs were.

Hey Eric,

Having seen these director's cuts, are the changes noticeable? I'm a little leery about any tinkering with the first film just because I think it's so perfectly tight how it is.

Mike,
I haven't heard much about this. At this point, they might be saving catalog SE's like this (which already have multiple releases in the format) for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray or whatever next format wins out.

Nah, I couldn't be happier with those 3 Directors Cuts discs. Highly recommended!

I'm bumping this with a link for an unbelievable Amazon sale for the collection (non-director's cut discs) for $20:

Quite compelling, but I'd still spend the extra for the Director's Cuts. Better sound, better transfer, etc.
