No wonder why the Australian Blu-Ray (the only territory Disney released it!) is selling for $100+ these days.

Crap like this is why I will continue to buy physical media as long as it exists, so no one can retroactively censor my movies decades after the fact. :? Just a shame that Splash is almost impossible to find in high-def for a reasonable price.

On the one hand, I can understand, they want it to be "family friendly".

On the other hand, Splash was never a kid's movie. There is a lot of mature humor in the film (John Candy's love of dirty magazines, the senile secretary who comes to work with her bra outside her shirt, etc.).

It's not The Little Mermaid.

I also find it ironic that Disney is afraid of offending audiences (i.e. losing revenue) over the sight of a bare bottom -- yet champions licentious attitudes in its more recent films.

Has Ron Howard weighed in on this? (Does he dare?)

At it again. And it won't be the last time.

It's only going to get worse as physical media falls by the wayside and the only way to get access to older shows and movies is through a streaming platform. I get Disney wants to protect their squeaky-clean family image, but if so, why keep buying up franchises and movie studios that used to make R-rated content? :?

But at the same time, they want children under eight to be exposed to explicit lectures about sexual issues in public schools. Go figure.

Incredible week for them. And not at all in a good way.
