Maybe they'll include the jokes this time?

And a 3rd project -- a Netflix cartoon -- also announced.

This was totally my beef with Afterlife. For a legacy sequel to one of the most irreverent comedies of the 80s, they couldn't have inserted any humor? At least the 2016 movie knew it was supposed to be a comedy.

The problem, as I wrote in my review, isn't that their heart wasn't in the right place. It's that Jason Reitman is no Ivan Reitman, especially when it comes to comedy. He's been on a losing streak for years. Maybe they'll bring in someone else to write it this time.

Watching the new season of Stranger Things only accentuated how desperately mirth-free Afterlife was. Any episode of that show - from any season - is guaranteed to have more laugh-out-loud moments than that film.
