What amuses me is that the "bottom line" is taking a "hit", this coming from a company that now sits on two massive archives of films, seems to show zero respect for its history & founder. Add into that very costly films that I am not 100% sure where they are aimed at & seems to turn its back or even exploit its own potential at relative low costs. Lastly whatever it does put out is so politically correct it feels like one message after another being rammed down the viewers throats & to me, altering a film that does make it out, to be politically correct is just plain dumb!
The Disney Club puts out the same titles repeatedly but with a pair of socks or blanket or some other tat! last one I saw was a "glow in the dark slip case" seriously we came up with better in the 1970's to push films! I get there are collectors of these things, but do people repeatedly buy the same film for a cardboard sleeve? I throw them in box, they take too much shelf space.
What seems to go on Disney + is not allowed out in any other market place - discs releases - unless buying "pirates" - I do mean personal copies - off eBay.
They have "bottom line" issues? well look within & I am sure there are things to sell that are already owned & would make money even in limited runs through specific channels? Or there seem to be a number of the smaller labels that are willing to take the risks head on, Kino, Arrow, Shout etc. So do what Disney have done for decades, start licensing.
Find it all a little hypocritical to completely blanket out parts of the market place & then wonder where the money is? Particularly given their history of never ending re-issues & television sales, that is how this company was built.
My Disney rant for the day.

Didn't want to ruin your post Andy so I split up MJ's and my posts which followed yours into separate threads.
I agree wholeheartedly with your analysis needless to say. I'm still a member of the Disney Movie Club but they didn't release anything after the 1st quarter. I'll see what they do early in 2023 before canceling outright, I'm getting tired of "declining" every monthly offering.
