THE SUGARLAND EXPRESS - 4K Coming in November

Mike Matessino mentioned this was coming when the CD was released. The soundtrack was reworked at that time also.

Shame there's zero extra features (at least related to this movie). Is Spielberg ashamed of it, or something? :?

Definitely he's not ashamed of it, because this wouldn't have been restored for 4K when a lot of Spielberg's other movies haven't been yet.

I'm guessing Spielberg might be interviewed in this featurette (perhaps). If not, there are a bunch of Spielberg movies that have never had extras, and/or he didn't have Laurent Bouzereau go out and make documentaries for. This, ALWAYS, HOOK -- those have never had extras on them. Sony threw some deleted scenes on the HOOK UHD but that was it...which is interesting, because that's a fairly popular catalog title (surely sold better than SUGARLAND and ALWAYS). On HOOK my guess is he probably IS indifferent to it and/or doesn't feel it's worth commemorating.

It's sort of like feast or famine with Spielberg movies on home video in terms of extras. There are others like EMPIRE OF THE SUN and AMISTAD which are limited to documentaries shot at the time, during production, but are otherwise barren too. And of course POLTERGEIST which is one of his most popular productions and has zilch for reasons we know. :| And of course no commentaries ever!

Spielberg being adverse to commentaries is a true shame, as he's a terrific storyteller in the countless documentaries made about his films over the decades, and it'd be edifying to have his scene-by-scene thoughts about his classics while he's still with us.
