David Arnold Writes (Terrific) Song For New 007 Video Game

Better than nothing...actually good to know he's still around and active with the series.

After the last few horrendous Bond songs, this isnt terrible either (Arnold cowrote it as you can tell plainly tell from the "chorus" and orchestra):

Arnold apparently just worked on the song -- added this in the press release:
"The music of James Bond has always been a huge part of its identity," Arnold said in a press statement. "A title song has to tell us about the world we are about to enter into. It has to intrigue, excite, and beckon us in. This song joins a long line of genre-defining songs, each one creating a benchmark of style that adds to the magnificent heritage that is The Bond Song. That's why I was so excited to work with Lana, an artist who brought elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character to this piece, which I hope will open the world of Bond to a whole new audience."

Not only that, but I can envision that melody line and rhythmic accompaniment being used throughout the fabric of a score. It's what I wish he would have done MORE of in CASINO ROYALE. That Cornell song might not have impressed many for Cornell's voice, but I wanted more of that melody line and counterpoint (think the tail end of BLUNT INSTRUMENT, and I'M THE MONEY / ASTON MONTENEGRO).

Agree totally Ed, the CASINO song is pretty good and there's thematic content there which, you're right, the score doesn't incorporate enough of in terms of the melody line. I think the song really lost a lot by Cornell screaming his lungs out at the end, soured a lot of listeners.

This is actually (IMO) a better song than the one he wrote for Garbage with THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, which I always found kind of monotonous.

I have hopes the game will be good coming from IO (Hitman series) and I'm glad to see and hear this. :)
