I can't balk at the prospect of seeing a live actress in that costume!
Ah, but you know in today's woke cinema they'll put her in some neck to toe potato-sack outfit! ;)

Re: Imprint/ViaVision (Australia) Thread: New Announcements

Too late for me, I ordered the set with "55 Days At Peking" (one down, three to go on those Bronston titles!) and "Raise The Titanic". I decided I could pass on "Escape To Athena" because given how bad every new commentary I've listened to of late has been, I have little faith this would be any ...

Re: Commentary Tracks - The Good, The Bad & The Unlistenable

Gee, did Reesman find an excuse to go into a five minute rant about the blacklist like I had to hear him do in the "Marooned" commentary just because Lee Grant was in it?

I was put to sleep for the most part by the commentary on the Flicker Alley silent "King Of Kings" though it never veered into ...

Or in a similar vein, Craig haters like me would have preferred "Casino Royale" be done like this!

Re: Dalton on his tenure as 007: "I was punished for being right"

Asking me to choose between Dalton and Craig is roughly the same as choosing which brand of poison. In that respect, I'm consistent for not liking either for being "dark". The only reason I tolerate Dalton more is that his films have some "familiar" elements whereas there was nothing I could connect ...

Re: Read a Book, then Watch Its Movie!

The chief change from book to film is the fact that the screenwriters recognized that trying to actually rob Fort Knox was simply impossible, and giving Bond a scene to explain to Goldfinger why it's impossible (when he thinks this is what Goldfinger plans) is for me the most brilliant change from ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

Work tended to limit the level of movies to watch during the Holy Week season this year but I did find time for these:

Cleopatra (1934) -This was my one "non-Biblical spectacle" but the events do take place just one generation before the birth of Christ and in this version, the character of Herod ...

Re: Imprint/ViaVision (Australia) Thread: New Announcements

The Raise The Titanic expert has written a big comprehensive book on the making of the film that was quite informative. But what I want to know is that they say they're presenting Barry's score isolated. Does this mean the original tracks have been found or does this mean they're just using the ...

I have to get this because this is a milestone to get "55 Days At Peking" at long last.

Re: KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - Andy's Review

Cameron wanted to make a direct PLANET OF THE APES '68 sequel with new astronauts landing and Heston even part of the cast as Taylor, but Fox obviously had some lousy executives making poor choices around this time (read the article lol)

I am not a big fan of Cameron's, but THAT would have been ...

If Via Vision got hold of the TV cut of Airport '77 I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

The first R-rated movie I ever saw in a theater (age 14).
