Re: The sequel/reboot/rermake prediction thread

Speaking of Jackson, I doubt the remake of The Dam Busters will be forthcoming anytime soon, which I think is a good thing.

Oh well.

As far other remakes, I could honestly see someone remaking The Wicker Man , with Cynthia Erivo as a cop ...

Re: The sequel/reboot/rermake prediction thread

The one that could really use a remake is Lord of the Rings -- as Peter Jackson's films swapped-out the story's introspection and substance in favor of a lot of flashy, CGI gimmickry and horror movie shock effects.

Unfortunately, Jackson's interpretation seems Inextricably fused with Tolkien's work ...

Re: Dalton on his tenure as 007: "I was punished for being right"

Then again, being limited to two probably prevented what happened with Craig, where he was given more and more power as his run in the role went on, and he completely drained any sense of excitement, romance and sophisticated fun out of the series. :| I'd watch either of the two Dalton films over ...

Re: Hollywood's Job Market Continues to Collapse

If they'd just make movies people want to see instead of regurgitating the same old IPs (and exploiting those IPs to promote an agenda), they might still be in business.

Re: Dalton on his tenure as 007: "I was punished for being right"

I understand the choice to make Bond more personable and charming in the movies as he really is not all that likeable of a character in the novels; however, after too much Roger Moore smarminess (IMO) and the over-gadgetry and the Brosnan-era silliness toward the end of his tenure, I appreciated ...

Dalton on his tenure as 007: "I was punished for being right"

Brief article which discusses the way Timothy Dalton (and his interpretation of James Bond) was was abandoned for being "too dark"...only for Daniel Craig to come along later and be lauded for approaching the role the same way.

Weapons (6.5/10)

Eh. I'll give this movie points for often creating a potent level of suspense and a some effective creep-out moments. But it is also slow-moving (especially at the outset) and the tone is uneven -- one minute it is a horror film, the next a small-town soap opera, and there are ...

Re: Just What Everyone Wanted...A LORD OF THE RINGS Sequel Written by Stephen Colbert

Excellent article on similar lines today in The Federalist touching upon Tolkien's Catholicism (I wasn't even aware of the significance of the ring being destroyed on March 25th, etc.) and how the mere concept of this movie is all wrong..

Frankenstein (6.5/10)

As one of the most adapted books ever, any new filmic iteration of Frankenstein ought to be original and striking. This 2026 version strives to be unique -- but despite altering aspects of Mary Shelley's original narrative with new twists, it offers little of interest ...

Re: SUPERMAN Thread - SUPERGIRL Trailer Release

I'm always dubious when a studio claims a superhero movie costs this little, but it would be impressive if true, and a sign that the "New DCEU" is looking towards making better movies, cheaper while trying to rebuild.
